Southern STARRS is open to any child or young adult with a diagnosed physical, mental or emotional disability.  Parents or guardians are asked to call the STARRS’ office to request forms.  Physician’s information and signatures are required.  When the competed forms are returned, you will be notified of available times in which to schedule a riding session.

 

Parents are also asked to provide their child with an ASTE standard riding helmet, comfortable riding clothes, and a hard shoe or boot with a 1 inch heel.  Riding sessions are 45 minutes, with time for mounting and dismounting.  Initial sessions are primarily to evaluate the student.

 

Parents are requested to remain present during each session.  There is currently no charge for sessions, however, tax-deductible donations are always welcome.  For more information on how therapeutic riding can be of value, specifically to your child’s diagnosis, please contact Southern STARRS or visit the HARHA website.  (www.narha.org)
